CHRISTIAN FINE ARTS
at the Lutheran Church of The Savior

The purpose of Christian Fine Arts at the Lutheran Church of The Savior is to glorify and proclaim Christ through various art forms. It is also an on-going celebration of the many gifts and talents God has lovingly bestowed on this congregation.

Throughout the year there are many opportunities to share your special gifts with our church family. Take time to read about the many Christian Fine Arts programs that are on-going and then watch the monthly and weekly Epistle for seasonal opportunities.

Throughout the year, the Drama Ministry team presents one-act plays at "Drama Dessert Nights". The team meets on Saturday mornings at 10:00 AM in the Fine Arts office upstairs and anyone is welcome to join us.

This team also presents a much larger work during the Festival of Christian Fine Arts — a dinner-theater and a children’s musical. During the Lenten season, the team sometimes does a weekly mini-series for the mid-week services. These have both been very well received by the congregation.

Drama Ministry is something you can easily pop in and out of as your schedule allows. Please join us any Saturday or for one of the larger projects. Call Vianna Pilkington for more information at 781-275-6013.

This festival takes place for an entire weekend. We try to include all art forms in this three-day celebration, but the main focus is the art gallery in Luther Hall. All members and friends of the church are encouraged to share their artwork with the congregation. Saturday night we have a dinner-theater or cabaret to enjoy the performing arts. Sunday evening is a concert — either the worship band or instrumentalists presenting classical solos. Don’t miss any of these special offerings.

We are a liturgical church that follows the church lectionary and seasons. Each one of our seasons has many treasured traditions and symbols. We celebrate artistically in many ways, but one of the boldest artistic statements is made through our Banner Ministry.

We hang banners every season in our sanctuary and in the narthex. They have all been designed and lovingly hand-made by our congregation. There is little or no sewing on our banners — most are glued or a spray adhesive is utilized. This means anyone can participate. Look for the call for help in the monthly and weekly Epistle.

There are currently four active choirs in our congregation. They are conducted by Vianna Pilkington and accompanied by Gina Persson.

SAVIOR’S SINGERS — This is the Junior Choir and meets every Thursday afternoon from 4:30 PM until 5:30 PM downstairs in the Fine Arts Room. Open to children in grades 1 through 8.

SUNDAY MORNING CHOIRS — The choir sings at both the 8:30 and 11:15 AM worship services. You have a choice of which service you wish to sing in and there are some who sing for both. Rehearsals are on Thursday evenings at 7:30 PM in the Fine Arts Room downstairs. All past voices are urged back and new voices are more than welcome to join us.

MEN’S CHOIR — Now and then we like to have just the men of the congregation come together to sing the Sunday morning anthem. If you are one of those who doesn’t wish to make the full commitment to join the choir, but wishes to sing now and then, please consider joining us soon. CONCERT CHOIR — This choir performs throughout the year during special church festivals such as Easter and Christmas as well as during the Festival of Christian Fine Arts and a spring musical. The Concert Choir is open to all members and friends of LCS. When necessary we rehearse Thursdays at 8:00 PM or Saturdays at 8:30 AM. We’d love to have you with us!

BRASS CHOIR — Brass instruments have always been a part of worship right back to temple worship. If you play a brass instrument, please come forward to share your gift.

INSTRUMENTAL NEEDS — We are always on the lookout for instrumental musicians. Please come forward if you can help with Easter, musicals, or other festival Sundays throughout the year.

LCS ENSEMBLE — This is an instrumental group made of High School age instrumental students and plays during the Festival of Christian Arts as well as during special worship services. If interested in learning more, please contact Vianna Pilkington at 781-275-6013.
